Our chef Martin Lorenz likes to mix cool and fresh cocktails - shaken, not stirred! You have to taste his awesome Martini or mix it yourself! To make matters more easy, cocktail master Martin reveals his special recipe: “The TpMartini refers esthetically to typefaces drawn with a pointed nib as the Bodoni or Didot, but with the clear distinction that it is obviously constructed by modules. The visual system for the TpMartin is based on a square 5x9-unit grid and three different basic forms with which the font and other elements are designed. The basic forms consist of a straight line and circles of two different sizes. The line can be extended, but the circles retain their related proportions.”

Godfrey is a compact, straight-sided, sans serif with a solid and reliable personality. Particularly striking are the descenders on ‘f’, ‘j’ and ‘y’ – which are composed completely of straight lines – and the protracted points of the ‘i’ and ‘j’. This emphasis on straight lines and equal proportions lend Godfrey a very structured and clean appearance while also ensuring its very unique character. As a result, Godfrey is a legible typeface that is expressive without being distracting.

One could speculate that FHA Condensed French probably started life as wood type for displays, headlines and posters. The exaggerated sharp serifs and condensed forms were not uncommon for that period. At some point, sign painters picked up Condensed French added their own character. At the end of the nineteenth century, Frank H. Atkinson included Condensed French in his samples of lettering for his book, ”Sign Painting, A Complete Manual.” This book became one of the definitive guides for signwriting and hand lettering. In 1999, Mike Adkins digitized Condensed to add to our Atkinson collection. For its re-release, Condensed French has been updated with more language support, ligatures, and OpenType alternates. It has true vintage character but still plays well in more modern designs. A font for all seasons, the condensed forms and sharp serifs fit in every layout from wildwest days posters and creepy film credits to Christmas ads and Mother’s Day cards. While I can’t really see FHA Condensed French as the font for phone aps or video game text, it will provide impact to logos, branding, and product labeling.

Palatino Sans Informal was designed as part of a group of three font families: Palatino nova, Palatino Sans, and Palatino Sans Informal. Together these three families act as the fulfilment of Herman Zapf’s original Palatino idea. Palatino, which was born as a metal typeface in 1950, proved to be one of the 20th Century’s most popular designs. Not only is Palatino Sans Informal a completely new typeface, it is also a completely new interpretation of the entire sans serif genre. Its letterforms are curved, rounded, and soft, not hard and industrial. In comparison with Palatino Sans, Palatino Sans Informal offers eccentricities that are somewhat artistic and more individual looking. The fonts in the Palatino Sans Informal family include several OpenType features, such as an extended character set covering all Latin-based European languages, old style figures, small caps, fractions, ordinals, ligatures, alternates, and ornaments.

In 1997, renowned lettering artist Julian Waters embodied his classical calligraphic roman capitals in a graceful typeface, aptly named Waters Titling. In 2001, the original design was enhanced and unified in the new OpenType format. This broad-edged pen design is related to other historically-based titling alphabets but offers a wider range of weights and widths, making it a versatile choice for movie titles, book jackets, posters, banners, and calendars. Waters Titling is rooted in the timeless Roman monumental inscription forms of 2000 years ago, but is infused with contemporary vigor and flair. This calligraphic design has strong contrast between its thick and thin strokes, and flowing serifs with subtle brackets. In its lighter weights the design is elegant and delicate, while the bolder weights offer substance and sparkle.

Austrian designer Viktor Solt-Bittner created the 1998 Adobe Original typeface, Voluta Script, for use in a guide to the Austrian Gallery at Castle Belvedere.
A volute (Latin “voluta”) is a spiral or scroll-shaped ornament used in the Baroque architecture of Castle Belvedere, similar to the swashes in this typeface. The castle was the historic residence of Prince Eugene of Savoy, one of the great military commanders of the 18th century and a prominent figure in Austrian history. When asked to create a typeface based on the calligraphy of the period to illustrate Eugene’s epic, Solt-Bittner turned for inspiration to Kurrent writing, a cursive blackletter style. Solt-Bittner created a hybrid style that embodies the rhythm and basic forms of its ancestors with large capitals, dark vertical strokes, and flourished beginning and ending characters. Voluta Script allows designers to evoke the Baroque era or to lend a hint of majestic grace to contemporary typesetting. U.S. Patents Design 413,620; 424,607.
